NORMAN — The OU Women's Basketball team won its first exhibition game in convincing fashion beating Latvia 101-57 Thursday night.
Chelsi Welch made a triumphant return from an ACL injury leading the Sooners with 16 points while scoring on a variety of moves. Guard partner Erin Huggins was next with 14, while Beky Preston had 11. Leah Rush scored eight points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
True freshman Kelly Lam hit her first shot and scored 11 points and grabbed three rebounds off the bench. Sophomore Krista Sanchez also scored 10 off the bench.
The Sooners shot 50 percent from the field, while holding Latvia to 38.5 percent shooting. Oklahoma won the rebounding battle 39-28.
