Below is a statement released by Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops regarding the continuing rumors of his interest in the head coaching position at the University of Florida.

"I maintain close contact with Steve Spurrier and am aware of his feelings regarding the job at Florida. My position and feelings on the matter remain unchanged and I stand by the statement I made earlier. I remain focused on my job here at Oklahoma and will not spend any more of my time dealing with this speculation."

"We've got a top five program here and we have great commitment from our administration. I can't control what other people say. All I can do is reiterate what I havesaid all along that that is that I am privileged to be the coach at Oklahoma and I am dedicated to building this program. I believe we're still getting better and we still have a lot of goals here that we want to achieve.

"I did enjoy my time at Florida, but a large part of that attraction was Steve Spurrier and he's not there any more. Florida would be a nice place to retire, but I am a long way from retiring. We have an awful lot right here to be excited about and that's where all of my concentration is centered."
