RECRUITING: Smith talks OU-Nebraska

Five-star Edmond, Okla. safety/corner prospect Reggie Smith talks about his first game in the high school playoffs and his trip to Norman to watch Oklahoma-Nebraska on Saturday.

Reggie Smith, S, 6-0, 192, 4.5, EDMOND (SANTE FE HS), OKLAHOMA:

JH: I saw where Edmond Santa Fe won their playoff game and you did all the scoring. Is that right?

RS: "I was able to get into the end zone twice. It was a pretty tough game for us on offense. Our defense held up in the game and I had eight or nine tackles in the game. Mustang didn't pass the ball like they usually do. I scored once on a pass from Steve Day (29 yards) and once on a run. We play Broken Arrow this week."

JH: Did you enjoy your unofficial visit to OU this weekend?

RS: "It would have been a lot better if it wasn't rainy and cold. We watched it the first half and then at the beginning of the third quarter we decided to go back. There was just no hope for Nebraska."

JH: Did you get to go through any of the festivities surrounding a visit of any kind?

RS: "I didn't really get to go through any of the festivities because me and my mom got off to a late start."

JH: Did you get a chance to meet any of the recruits?

RS: "I saw some of the other recruits, but I didn't get to meet any of them."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma at this point?

RS: "They are a tough team to play at home. They keep flexing their muscles. Nebraska couldn't get do much on offense, so the secondary concentrated on stopping the run and did a good job with it."

JH: Will you go to some other game this weekend?

RS: "I doubt that I will because I don't think I will have time to get out somewhere until our season is over."
