RECRUITING: Texas TE to visit this weekend

Texas tight end is committed to Texas A&M, but still wants to check out the Sooners

JH: How did you finish your season?

"We finished the season 8-4 and went to the second round of the playoffs. We were picked to finish last in our district, but we had a great season and could have gone further in the playoffs. We had a lot of people injured at the end of the year, which hurt us. I finished 130 pancakes and earned second team all-state honors. I was first team all-district and first team all-Bay area."

JH: Did you play tight end?

"I actually played quick tackle, because we ran the ball about 80 percent of the time. I could play in the offensive line, but I don't want to. I want to play tight end and in summer camps at Texas A&M I worked at tight end and that is where I want to play. Our offense centered around the quick tackle and they pretty much ran everything behind me."

JH: What is your recruiting situation?

"I have verbally committed to Texas A&M, but I am going to take other visits. I talked to Coach (Bob) Stoops at Oklahoma and he told me that he was staying at Oklahoma. I like what Oklahoma is doing and I am going to visit there this weekend. I am also going to visit Texas A&M (2-1) and SMU. I have been to Texas Tech."

JH: You have committed, but it's a soft commitment isn't it?

"I am just wanting to see what is the best situation is for me. I want to go where I fit in the best and where I can win a national championship."

JH: Are you playing basketball?

"I am going out for track and I want try and run the 100-meters this year. I will throw the shot and discus as well."

JH: I know you love to lift weights, so how are your workouts going?

"I can bench 350 pounds and I work out six days a week in the weight room. I am big on the weight training."
