Alex Daniels, ATH, 6-3, 225, 4.5, COLUMBUS BROOKHAVEN, OHIO:
JH: Congratulations on winning the state championship.
AD: "Man, it is a great feeling. We are the first team in Columbus in football to win a state championship. That includes teams with Archie Griffin and many other collegiate and pro players. They couldn't get it done and we were able to get it done."
JH: How did you play in the game?
AD: "I think I had 11 tackles and two tackles for loss. I had two touchdowns as well. It was just a great game for me overall."
JH: Is the city of Columbus still celebrating?
AD: "Yeah, in Columbus we have a parade coming up. There are a lot of things that have been going on for winning a state championship. I have been on television and radio, and there have been a bunch of stories in the newspapers and things. This is great for the whole town because they take great pride in their high school teams. This is also a great credit to all of our coaches who are great men and led us to this championship."
JH: Now that your season is over what is your recruiting visit schedule?
AD: "YI am going to Oklahoma on the 17th and to Minnesota this Friday. Keith (Massey) is going on both trips with me. After those two I am going to set up some more, but I am not sure where. I am still talking to some other schools to see if they will come forward with some offers."
JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?
AD: "I think the vibes are going to be incredible when I visit there. They are getting ready for a national championship and they are going to be practicing for that game. It is going to be interesting to see the environment surrounding a team that is getting ready to play in such a big game. It is going to be great to watch the coaches and players and see how they work together with such a big game on the line, and to see what kind of intensity they are practicing under. I want to see how they respond to those that say Auburn is better than them. OU knew they were going to win the Big 12 Championship and they know the real challenge will come from USC. We had to go through the same thing here in Columbus."
JH: You seem to be very mature about what you are looking for on your visits?
AD: "I think college is one of the greatest things that a guy can experience. Once you take your visit you have to break things down to the bare basics. You want to see what is going on within the football program and what kind of education that you can get from college. I don't want to be bamboozled by all the girls or anything. The girls are great, but great girls are at every school. I want to be amazed by the football team and the players and coaches. I want to be amazed by the academics at the school. That is what is going to be important to me."
