RECRUITING: Sooners still chasing top linemen

Houston, Texas offensive tackle Reginald Youngblood leads an impressive list of linemen Oklahoma's hopes to land on signing day. See inside for a breakdown of the Sooners' top OL prospects.

As we have often said, one of the big needs for the Sooners this recruiting class is in the offensive line.

Currently, the Sooners have three very good verbals in Ben Barresi, Jesse White and Brandon Keith. Keith will be counted upon as a bonus in this class because OU wants to sign five preps as well as he as the lone JUCO.

OU is still recruiting some of the very best linemen in the country and have a very good chance for Reginald Youngblood of Houston, Texas and Jon Cooper of Ft. Collins, Colo.

One player the Sooners are still very much in the running for is Dan Doering of Chicago, Ill. This is coming down to a battle between OU and Iowa and Doering goes to Iowa this weekend. Does he stay close home and play for a very solid program in Iowa or does he leave home and play for the best team in the country?

The Sooners will be in the home of Cory Zirbel of Murray, Ky tomorrow to see if they have a shot or not. Did Zirbel really mean that Norman was boring? And even if he feels that way, does that mean he won't play for football for OU? This is still a battle between OU and Michigan with the advantage is still with Michigan.

Duke Robinson of Atlanta, Ga. still has OU high on his list. He will visit Georgia this weekend. OU is also still very much in the running for Curtis Crouch of Fayetteville, N.C., but all schools are now concerned about his grades.

Oklahoma will get a visit out Rafael Eubanks of St. Paul, Minn., and if OU gets a visit out of player then they have a shot.

Sooner Head Coach Bob Stoops talked to Hivera Green of Conway, S.C. in person today. It appears that OU will bring him in for a visit, but will they offer him? Ohio State may offer him this week.

That is a very good group. And out of that group, OU is going to come up with a very good offensive line class.

One other note: Defensive tackle Lorenzo Jones of McKinney, Texas has backed off on his commitment to Nebraska and will visit OU this weekend.
