RECRUITING: Derrick Williams talks recruiting

Greenbelt, Maryland wide receiver Derrick Williams update talks about his high school career, what he's looking for in a college and his upcoming visit to Norman.

Derrick Williams, WR, 6-0, 193, 4.3, GREENBELT MARYLAND:

JH: When you think back on your great playing career, what do you think about?

DW: "Playing on this team was great. We accomplished a lot this year and over the last four years. We were in the playoffs every year and I think we lost only five games during the last four years. We only made it to the big show once and we lost that game, but still we have had a great run here at on this team."

JH: You played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, safety and returned kicks in high school. How will that help you in college?

DW: "I can go to college knowing that I have been pretty good at all those different positions. Playing all those positions has helped me understand the game even more, and when I go to college that fact will help me learn the position that I am going to play in college."

JH: Who has come by to see you this week?

DW: "I talked to Bobby Bowden of Florida State, Phillip Fulmer and Tennessee and Steve Spurrier at South Carolina on Monday. On Wednesday Coach Stoops of Oklahoma is going to come by. And then on Thursday Joe Paterno is coming by."

JH: It must be amazing to have some of the greatest coaches in college football history make it a priority to come by and see you in your home the first week coaches can get out?

DW: "Yep, that is a great feeling. I like meeting people and different personalities. I am right now trying to get a feel for the different schools and the different coaches that are running each school."

JH: You are visiting Oklahoma this weekend, so what will you be looking for as you go into that visit?

DW: "I just want to see what kind of need Oklahoma has for me and if they really want me. I want to see if I feel comfortable with Oklahoma."

JH: You indicate that feeling comfortable is very important in your decision. Can you describe what comfortable means to you and how it will apply to a college?

DW: "Just a feeling that college can become my home life. I want to go to program that I can make my home. I just have to have a great feeling about."
