Sooners stay unbeaten in Big 12 with win over NU

Oklahoma's Jason Detrick, (5), shoots over Nebraska's Cary Cochran (3), Wednesday in Oklahoma's 78-52 win over Nebraska

Despite a shaky start, fifth-ranked Oklahoma took care of business.

Oklahoma (14-1, 3-0) used a stifling defense and a 14-0 run to end the first half en route to disposing Nebraska (8-7, 1-3), 78-51, Wednesday night in Lincoln.

The Sooners overcame an early 13-7 deficit with an 8-0 run to regain the lead at 15-13. The Sooners and Huskers traded baskets and with the score tied at 19-19 the Sooners turned up the heat with their first half run capped by a three-point buzzer beater by Ebi Ere.

The Sooners then proceeded to go on another 14-1 run to begin the second half and blow the game open.

Nebraska point guard Brennon Clemmons finally ended the Huskers 9:41 scoring drought over the first and second half with 15:28 to go with a free throw cutting OU's lead to 40-20.

Oklahoma's defense held Nebraska to their worst shooting night in school history at just 24.6 (16-of-65) percent from the field.

Ere led the Sooners with 16 points while Hollis Price and Aaron McGhee chipped in 13. McGhee also added 10 rebounds.

Brian Conklin led the Huskers with 14 points.

The Sooners will now take their 13-game winning streak into a Big 12 showdown this Saturday at No. 4 Kansas. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. and will be televised regionally on ABC.
