Race still even for Smith after OU trip?

Edmond, Okla. safety/corner prospect Reggie Smith talks about his visit to Norman and where the Sooners stand in the race for his signature.

Reggie Smith, S, 6-0, 192, 4.5, EDMOND (SANTA FE HS) OKLAHOMA:

JH: How did your visit go to OU this weekend?

RS: "It was a pretty good time. I got to hang around the players, and I usually don't get a chance to do that. Usually, I just show up there for a game and I go to the facilities. I never get a chance to meet the players, but I had a chance to this time and I really enjoyed it."

JH: So the visit went as expected?

RS: "I was real good. I got to talk to a number of players, and I got a chance to ask them what they thought of their coaches and the program. That is the best way to find out how good a program really is."

JH: What did you learn about OU that you didn't already know?

RS: "I learned more about how their safeties and corners play. Their safeties are almost interchangeable, so they are just about the same on the field."

JH: Do you want to play corner or safety?

RS: "I am thinking safety."

JH: Did your visit to OU enhance their chance to sign you?

RS: "I am still looking at every school. I still don't have a leader. I am just going to take this visit and put it with the others and evaluate them from there. I want to take one or two more visits. And then, probably the week after the Army All-Star game, I will make my announcement."

JH: Did the visit go as expected?

RS: "It is what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a good trip, but I thought my other trips were good trips as well. I thought it was a good visit overall."

JH: How is recruiting stacking up for you at this time?

RS: "It is still even at this point. I need to still evaluate these schools and see what I want to do."

JH: Who is your next visit with?

RS: "It will be on January 22nd. It could be Texas A&M or Arkansas if I take one. I could also visit Penn State. I have already visited USC and Nebraska."
