Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops talked with OUInsider.com Thursday evening about Spurrier's decision to join his father in Washington.
On Spurrier Jr. joining his father in Washington
"I'm excited for Steve. He's got an opportunity to coach in the NFL with his father, who I have tremendous respect for. That's an excellent opportunity.
That's what he wants. He's got a chance to be back with his family. I'm just excited for him and think it will be good for him."
On his assistants moving on to bigger and better jobs
"We've got a staff full of great coaches. We've got one guy going on to an opportunity he wants to pursue, which I'm happy for him. We have other great coaches in place."
On the attention he will get from other coaches wanting to fill Spurrier's position
You can only imagine the long line of coaches who want to fill his position. I can't tell you the number of people that are interested in the position and are excited to have a chance. In the end, we'll figure out what's the very best and who can help us.
We'll be fine. We'll just continue to roll and keep going like we have. I'll look at here in the next few days and make a decision on somebody.
