Martellus Bennett, TE, 6-6, 240, 4.75, ALIEF (TAYLOR HS), TEXAS:
JH: How is basketball season going?
MB: "I am doing pretty well. I am averaging 22 (points) and 13 (rebounds)."
JH: Since you feel you are a little better in football is it safe to say that your pro potential is in football?
MB: "I would like to think I have pro potential in both if I continue to work hard."
JH: How is recruiting going?
MB: "It has been going pretty good because I have just been chillin."
JH: How does your recruiting shape up at the moment?
MB: "My top schools are Texas, Miami, OU and Texas A&M."
JH: Do you have a leader at the moment?
MB: "No, I don't have a leader. It is even between those four schools."
JH: You recently had OU Head Coach Bob Stoops and OU Assistant Coach Bobby Jack Wright in your home. How did that meeting go?
MB: "That meeting went well. We were just chatting. Coach Stoops is a pretty cool dude."
JH: Going into that meeting you voiced concern that OU didn't use the tight end enough and that Miami and Texas used the tight end more. After meeting with the OU coaches do you still feel that way?
MB: "They want to use the tight end, but first they need to get a great tight end to use him in the offense. They told me everybody said they didn't run the ball either, then they signed Adrian and they are now one of the top rushing teams in the country. So, if they get a tight end like me then they will use the tight end more in the offense. Until then. they will use what they have."
JH: Do you now feel that OU will use the tight end as much and as well as Texas and Miami in the future?
MB: "Yes, I think that OU will use the tight end in the future."
JH: Some people think you are a silent commitment to Texas. Are they correct?
MB: "I don't know why people would think that. I like Texas, but that doesn't mean that I am going there."
JH: What is your remaining visit schedule?
MB: "I am going to Texas A&M and Miami in January."
JH: Since you are going to play basketball in college as well, what is your relationship with OU basketball?
MB: "The OU basketball team is good. They have won three out of the last four Big 12 Championships. I know and respect Coach (Kelvin) Sampson pretty well. I know Coach (Ray) McCallum pretty well too."
