RECRUITING: Is Alexander a Sooner?

Stud Louisiana linebacker Rufus Alexander's high school coach and guardian clears up the rumors

RUFUS ALEXANDER (6-1/220/4.49), LB, Christian Life High School, Baton Rouge, La.,:

I just got off the phone with Baton Rouge Christian Life Head Football Coach David Barham and there was no indication at all that Rufus Alexander had not committed to OU.

Barham said that Alexander had told the OU coaches that he was committed and that he was meeting with co-defensive coordinator Brent Venables tomorrow afternoon.

"Unless Rufus has something up his sleeve he is going to Oklahoma," said a chuckling Barham. "Coach Venables is coming in here tomorrow to answer any final questions, but I don't expect any problem."

"Other coaches are still calling him and things and that can get to a young man," Barham continued. "Plus, he is getting calls from so many different people that it gets confusing sometimes. I don't even know who we are talking to. I have heard about guys like you and you have called me about other players before, but there are so many news guys in your business or in the media or whatever that I am going to have to do a better job of screening my calls in the future."

I have also set Rufus and Coach Barham up on my radio show Friday morning.

So, I don't have any understanding how their can be any other reports indicating Rufus isn't going to be a Sooner. Unless he changes his mind when he meets Coach Venables tomorrow (that's not going to happen), he is firmly committed to OU.
