RECRUITING: Two or three in the mix for Cosby?

Mart, Texas wide receiver Quan Cosby checks in during his visit to Austin.

Quan Cosby, WR, 5-10, 200, 4.4, MART, TEXAS:

JH: How is recruiting going for you at the moment?

QC: "I am visiting Baylor this weekend, and I am actually at Texas as we speak. I got here yesterday and I am going to be here until tomorrow night. Then I leave from here to go to Baylor. I will visit OU next weekend."

JH: The last time we talked you didn't seem that high on Texas, but now you are taking an official visit. What are your thoughts on UT and OU at this time?

QC: "I think very highly of them. Like I said, I like OU as far as the winning part of it is so strong. As far as Texas goe,s the rules have changed because I am not just out of high school anymore. They couldn't call me very much and that was OK with me, but now I am on my official visit there and the visit is going well. It will be interesting to see how much things have changed around here and how much they have stayed the same.

"I want to say that the results of the Orange Bowl and the Rose Bowl will not have any effect on my decision. It is more important that OU has been in the National Championship game than the fact they lost the game, and it is more important that Texas was in a BCS bowl that the fact they won the game."

JH: Some say you are a lean to Baylor at this point, is that true?

QC: "I wouldn't read anything into that because I am not leaning toward anybody at this point."

JH: Because you are now four years removed from high school, do you approach recruiting differently?

QC: "I think there is a different look, because I am an older guy. It is very rare that a freshman can come in start, but it does happen. Now, at my age, I will be looking to come in and start. I am going to get into great shape and go into camp looking to start. Academically, it doesn't change that much because I am still going to be a freshman. But athletically, I am looking at it a little bit differently."

JH: So the depth chart and style of offense are the main factors in your decision?

QC: "Those are going to be pretty much the factors. Plus, how my family and I feel about a place and how comfortable we feel about a place. It is going to be important how that program treats players on and off the field."

JH: Is everybody talking to you about playing on the offensive side of the ball?

QC: "Yes, everybody is talking to me about being a slot receiver or a wide receiver."
