RECRUITING: OU in the mix again for California WR

Sacramento, Calif. wide receiver Syd'Quan Thompson update.

Syd'Quan Thompson, WR, 5-10, 180, 4.45, SACRAMENTO (GRANT UNION HS) UNION, CALIFORNIA:

JH: What is going on in your sports life right now?

SQT: "I am working out lifting and on the track for my speed."

JH: With your speed I thought you would be running a bunch for the track team?

SQT: "I am not going to run track, but I am going to work out with them through the track season."

JH: Are you going to play in any all-star games?

SQT: "I hear there is going to be a California/Texas all-star game in July and I would like to play in that, but I don't know if I am going to get nominated for that or not. If not then I am going to play in our local all-star game out here."

JH: You are currently committed to Cal, but do you still have an interest in OU at this point?

SQT: "Most definitely. I just recently got a chance to talk to Coach (Chuck) Long and Coach (Darrell) Wyatt. In fact, Coach Wyatt came by my school today and talked to me for a little while. Mostly we talked about my decision. I most definitely have a great interest in Oklahoma at this point."

JH: Can you tell us a little bit more about what you and Coach Wyatt talked about?

SQT: "We just discussed basically what OU wanted me to play for them and how I could help their team out in the offense that they run. He told me that I could be a good fit for their team and hopefully I could go there and be the replacement for Mark Clayton and get into the mix there a little bit."

JH: So, how is your recruiting shaping up as of today?

SQT: "Right now Oklahoma is my No. 1 school. I am still considering California, but now I am just a soft commitment with them."

JH: Do you have any other visits set?

SQT: "No, I have no other visits set."

JH: When do you think you will announce?

SQT: "I think I will make a decision by next week."

JH: It sounds like lately you have been thinking hard about OU?

SQT: "I think what really excites me about Oklahoma is that they have a good program and a great football team. Then, at the position that I will be playing for them they play a lot of people and I think I would have a great opportunity to get into that offense and their passing game."
