NORMAN, Okla. —The OU women's basketball team continued their recent struggles losing at the buzzer to 8th-ranked Baylor 73-72 Wednesday night at the LNC.

Senior Dionnah Jackson gave the Sooners the lead with 11 seconds remaining on a driving lay-up through traffic. Lady Bear Chelsea Whitaker immediately took the in-bound pass and raced the court driving down the left side of the lane to the baseline, where she looked trapped by two Sooners. However, the double-team left Lady Bear star Sophia Young open to hit a sweet 17-foot jumper with .4 seconds left to beat the Sooners.

"We played them like we had the entire game," said Jackson on OU's defense on the last possession. "We felt good about the way we set up the defense and they just happened to make the shot."

Jackson was tremendous in defeat carrying the offense with 27 second half points and leading all scorers with 30 points and six rebounds. Leah Rush only played 24 minutes due to foul trouble, but finished with 12 points. Antoinette Wadsworth was tremendous off the bench with 10 points and three rebounds.

"I am very proud of our basketball team," said OU head coach Sherri Coale, despite the loss. "We competed for 40 complete minutes. I thought Dionnah Jackson was unbelievable and is obviously still learning because what she didn't do in the final minute against Texas she did tonight against Baylor. She took the ball all the way to the rim, through all kinds of traffic, through all kinds of people and scored it anyway. I couldn't be prouder of Dionnah and our basketball team."

Young led the Lady Bears with 21 points and four rebounds. The Lady Bears shot 50 percent from the floor the Sooners only 40 percent.

OU is now 12-9 overall and 4-6 in the Big 12, while Baylor is 18-3 and 8-2 in ig 12 play.

The Sooners will host Kansas State Sunday at 2:10 p.m.
