HOOPS RECRUITING: Sooner women land guard

DePew, Okla. junior point guard Rose Hammond talks about her commitment to Oklahoma.

JH: When did you officially commit?

RH: "It was March 22nd, which was last Tuesday. I went up there and I felt really comfortable with them. I love their coaching staff and how they play. Growing up, I have always wanted to play with the Sooners. I just love the way they play."

JH: Have you always been an Oklahoma lean?

RH: "Yeah, actually I have. My family knew that, but I didn't talk about it much."

JH: What kind of year did you have last season?

RH: "I averaged 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals per game. I have been playing point guard, but I would like to play shooting guard in college. I am not sure where I will play at OU, but I think it will be a two or three."

JH: How would you describe your game?

RH: "I like to drive and get to the hole. I am a slasher I guess, but I am working on my outside game."

JH: You will be coming in a year after the Paris twins, so what are your thoughts on playing with them?

RH: "I am very excited to play with them. I haven't had a chance to talk to them yet, but I sat next to them at the Texas game. I didn't get a chance to talk to them, but I am looking forward to meeting them."

JH: You must feel the program is in very good shape?

RH: "I think the program is in very good shape and only going to get better."
