HOOPS RECRUITING: Douglas guard down to three

The latest on Oklahoma City (Douglas HS) basketball prospect Richard Jones

JH: How is your season going?

"We are 17-2 and ranked number three class 5A. I am averaging 25 points and 10 rebounds per game. As a junior I averaged 19 ppg and 9 rebounds per game. I tore a tendon in my wrist a couple of weeks ago. I have been sitting out for about three weeks, but I returned to practice today."

JH: What is happening in recruiting?

"I am interested in OU, Arkansas and Oklahoma State. I am not really dealing with that many schools. Those three are the main schools that I really have an interest in. I really don't have a favorite."

JH: Who has offered you at this point?

"OU did offer me a scholarship, but they may have backed out of it. I haven't heard from them as much since I hurt my wrist. I haven't heard from them in a couple of weeks or so. I really like Oklahoma and if they were serious about me I would certainly consider going there."

JH: What are your thoughts on OU?

"OU is winning and I like they way they play. They are a disciplined team, but run a good fast break and have a great offense. Coach (Kelvin) Sampson is a good person and a great coach. He wants the best out of his kids, at times he has a rough way of showing it, but he just wants his kids to play up to their best ability."

JH: What is it about Arkansas and OSU that you like?

"I like Arkansas a lot and really like Nolan Richardson. He is laid back at times. I like Coach (Eddie) Sutton at O-State and he has good kids on his roster."

JH: Have you set up visits yet?

"I am going to set up my visits after the season and I will probably visit all three schools."
