HOOPS RECRUITING: Crump could decide this week

Juco point guard Tarrance Crump talks about his visit to Norman and when a decision might be made.

Tarrance Crump, PG, SHELTON STATE, ALABAMA:

JH: How did you enjoy your visit this weekend at OU?

TG: "It was a great trip. I enjoyed it."

JH: Now that you have visited OU, where do they stand in your recruitment?

TG: "I am seriously considering Oklahoma. They are easily in my top two or three schools right now. I liked the coaches and the players a great deal."

JH: Who did you hang out with at OU?

TG: "I hung out with Taj Gray and Nate Carter. I was around all of them at some point. They have some real good guys."

JH: What did you learn about OU that maybe you didn't know before?

TG: "I didn't know how much unity there was between the players and coaches, but I found out they are a very good group. They are very much like a family. I like all the coaches and think they are all real good guys. I think the players are very talented and they all bring something to the table.

"I can see why OU is one of the elite programs in the country by the way the coaching staff works and with the kind of talent they have on the roster. I also had a chance to talk to Quannas White, who was back for a few days. We have a lot in common because we were both Juoc point guards, and what he had to say was very helpful."

JH: Did your visit to OU enhance the Sooners chances of signing you?

TG: "Yes, I would say that. I am still thinking about Purdue and Wyoming. I would say that Oklahoma and Purdue are tied at the top of my list right now."

JH: What is the next thing that you are going to do with your recruiting?

TG: "I am going to get back to my family and talk over my decision. I have a visit set to Wyoming on Friday, but I don't know if I am going to take that visit or not. I am going to talk to my family and see what they think, and then in my heart if I know where I am going before Friday I am not going to take that visit."

JH: What did OU tell you about playing time if you signed with OU?

TG: "They told me that as soon as I come in that the ball is going to be in my hands. That is one of the things that makes me feel very comfortable about the situation because next year and over the next couple of years they have a chance to compete for the National Championship, and that would be a great thing to be a part of."
