NORMAN — James Hale has just confirmed through sources at the University of Oklahoma late Wednesday afternoon that Drew Lavender will indeed transfer from the Oklahoma basketball team.
The final decision was a mutual agreement between Lavender and OU head coach Kelvin Sampson. The Sooners will now work to assist Lavender in transferring to a new school.
The 5-foot-7 seven guard from Columbus, Ohio averaged 9.7 points last season and started in 28 of the Sooners' 32 games.
As a freshman, Lavender started in all 31 games, the most ever by a freshman at OU, and was named to the Big 12's All-Freshman team. He also led the team in points, assists, steals, 3-pointers and minutes played per game.
The decision is in: Lavender leaving Oklahoma
