Sooners rally again, take series against KSU

Ryan Rohlinger's 10th-inning solo home run pushed Oklahoma past Kansas State, 6-5.

One a day after rallying for a come-from-behind extra inning win against Kansas State, the Sooners did it again.

Trailing 4-1 going into their last at-bat in the top of the ninth, Oklahoma got a solo homer from Kevin Smith and a three-run blast by pinch-hitter Jeff Scuderi to take a 5-4 lead.

Kansas State responded with a run to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, but Ryan Rohlinger's lead-off solo homer in the top of the 10th inning would eventually turn out to be the game-winner.

Relief pitcher Will Savage was impressive once again bailing the Sooners out by getting two outs with the winning run on second in the ninth, and then pitching a perfect 10th to close out the game and pick up his third win in relief this week while improving to 7-3.

With the win, the Sooners improved to 26-21 overall and 9-12 in Big 12 play. Kansas State fell to 25-22 and 8-16 in conference action.

Up next for the Sooners is the Bedlam series with Oklahoma State (30-18, 10-11) beginning Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Tulsa. Games two and three will be at the Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City Saturday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m).

Heading into next weekend's series, the Sooners currently sit in seventh place in the Big 12 standings. Texas Tech is eighth at 8-11, followed by Kansas (8-12) and Texas A&M (8-13). Only the top eight teams will advance to the conference tourament in Oklahoma City May 25-29.
