After playing their worst game of the season on Friday, the Sooners turned the table on Saturday playing very sold baseball in a 10-1 win over Lamar.
Oklahoma (6-2) received great starting pitching from senior righthander Evan Greusel, who ran his record to 2-0. Greusel went six innings, giving up only three hits and one unearned run while walking none and striking out seven.
Freshman Jared McAuliff out of Stillwater, Oklahoma saw his first action of the year pitching two innings of outstanding relief. McAuliff gave up just one run and struck out three. Senior lefthander Michael Bradbury also saw his first action the season going one inning, walking two and striking out two.
The Sooners pounded out 15 hits with catcher Ryan Richardson leading the way with a three-run homer that gave the Sooners a 4-0 lead after two innings.
Jason Fransz had two hits and drove in a run. Reggie Willits had a triple, two hits and drove in a run and scored a run. Matt Arkison had a single, stole one base and scored three times.
Freshman Matt Bose batted cleanup and had three hits, including an RBI double.
The rubber match of the series is set for 1:00 PM at Dale Mitchell Park on Sunday. The Ref (1400 AM) will carry the game and it will be on the Sooner Sports Network and the audio broadcast will be available on SoonerSports.com.
