RECRUITING: Texas DL gets visit from Shipp

Corpus Christi, Texas defensive lineman Pryce Macon update.

Pryce Macon is a down-and-dirty defensive linemen who can line up at either defensive tackle or defensive end. Macon, who enters his senior year a three-year starter finished the year with 58 tackles, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, recovered one fumble and picked off one pass.

"Where I end up playing in college will depend on the type of defensive scheme I end up playing in," said Macon. "I really like playing both defensive end and defensive tackle, so it doesn't matter to me. I have had success at both positions. I would say that I am being recruited 50-50 at both spots right now."

Macon can bench 395 pounds, squats 515 and he has a posted a 33-inch vertical jump. Macon throws the shot (53'10) in track. Macon went to camps at TCU and LSU and to the U.S. Army Combine in San Antonio. Macon also attended a combine in Dallas and plans to take an unofficial visit to Texas A&M on Friday.

Macon has been offered by Arizona, Texas A&M and UTEP, but he feels more are on the way.

"I am keeping an open mind right now because I feel some other schools are going to offer me soon. I am looking at Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Arizona and Colorado. Jackie Shipp of Oklahoma came by my school today. He said that he had to go back to his head coach and talk him before he could offer me. I think OU is going to offer me soon. That would be nice if they would because they are such a great program. It would be real nice to go to Oklahoma."

Pryce is still waiting on his test score.
