The Bedlam baseball series certainly lived up to its hype this weekend.

Then again, how can a series that spans over 70 years, yet the difference in wins between the two rivals be three games coming into this weekend's series, not need extra innings in the third and final game?

Well, that's exactly what happened Sunday in Oklahoma City as the Sooners took this year's series with a 5-4 thriller in 11 innings.

In the end, it was Russell Raley's RBI single in the top of the 11th that knocked in Ryan Rholinger and put the Sooners ahead for good.

Will Savage, who entered the game in the 8th inning and was sensational again in four innings of relief work, retired the Cowboys in order in the 11th to end the game. Savage, now 8-3 on the season, also earned a save in Saturday's win over OSU.

With the win, the Sooners impove to 28-22 overall, while the Cowboys fell to 32-20. OSU still leads the overall series 137-135.

But most importantly, the series win vaulted the Sooners into fifth place in the Big 12 standings at 11-13. Oklahoma State, also 11-3, are currently in sixth by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Sooners.

Following OU and OSU in the standings is Texas Tech (9-13), Kansas (9-14), Kansas State (8-16) and Texas A&M (8-16). Only the top eight teams will advance to the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City.

Up next for the Sooners is a two-game set with Northern Colorado on Tuesday and Wednesday in Norman before finishing out the season with a key series at home against Texas Tech.
