RECRUITING: OU in great shape for Top Texas OL

Could Corsicana, Texas OL Cory Brandon be the Sooners' next commitment?

Cory Brandon, OT, 6'6, 255, 5.1, CORSICANA, TEXAS:

JH: In the recent Texas rankings you were ranked the No. 2 offensive linemen and the 10th-best player in the state. What do you think about that?

CB: "I really don't know about it because my grandma says it is bad luck to look at it. I guess it is nice, but I am not going to look at it or let it effect my work ethic."

JH: What have you been doing athletically since the first time we talked in March?

CB: "I have been going through spring football. We are going through our third and final week. It is going pretty well for me, but we are losing a lot of the team because of injuries. We put on full pads and we scrimmage every day, except yesterday. One of our players broke his ankle Thursday and he was our starting running back. So, we didn't practice yesterday. We tried to regroup."

JH: Have you been to any spring games, junior days, camps or combines?

CB: "No, I haven't been able to get out and visit anywhere."

JH: What are your thoughts on recruiting?

CB: "Recruiting is hard to think through sometimes. Oklahoma is still my No. 1 school right now. I really like OU. I am also looking at OSU. I thought about Miami, but that is going to be too far. I haven't talked to my mom about Miami, but I don't think she is going to like me going that far away from home. My mom likes OU alright and says that OU is petty close."

JH: Are you close to committing to OU?

CB: "I am working towards that. I need to talk to my high school coach more about it, but I know he wants me to commit before the season starts, and I am going to do that."

JH: Are you going to take an unofficial visit to OU in the summer?

CB: "I am going to go up to OU after spring practice in a week. I will be there the week after next, and my coach is coming with me. I look forward to seeing the campus and to meet Coach Stoops and the coaching staff. If things go well I might commit to OU then."
