RECRUITING: Las Vegas RB set to attend OU camp

Las Vegas tailback DeMarco Murray talks about his running style, top 10 and interest in Oklahoma.

Last year, Bishop Gorman had All-American linebacker Ryan Reynolds who, drew tons of college coaches to watch his talents. This year, Gorman has another All-American prospect in DeMarco Murray, who drew attention last year from all the scouts that came out to watch Reynolds.

"I find it amazing how many people already know me because of Ryan and all the great players we have had here at Gorman," said Murray. "Especially in Oklahoma, when Ryan signed the people there already seem to know so much about me. It is very flattering to me that so many people in Oklahoma care about me. It feels good that people so far away can already care about how you are doing."

Murray broke into the starting lineup his sophomore year by rushing for 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns, and he added another 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns onto that total this past season.

"I think I have good vision and I can see the holes in front of me," said Murray. "I think I am fast because it always seems I have the speed advantage. I think my vision allows me to utilize my blockers more and I can take advantage of their blocking a little bit better."

He can bench 265 pounds, squats 405 and he has a 37-inch vertical jump. Murray is the sixth man on a hoop squad that won state title a year ago.

Murray went to the Arizona State camp before his sophomore year and he has been to the Stanford combine twice and the Army All-American combine this year. He also went to the Oklahoma junior day last summer and he will be at the OU summer camp this weekend.

Murray has been offered by 35 schools at this point, but he does have an idea who his top schools are.

"My top 10 right now are Oklahoma, USC, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas A&M, Penn State and LSU," said Murray. "But that is not a solid top 10 because I have schools jump in an out of it.

So are the Sooners solid in his top 10?

"Oklahoma is pretty solid in my top 10, and they are in my top five. Coach Stoops is a great guy and I have known him since my sophomore year. I have got to know Coach Venables real well and he put my name out there for Coach Gundy, and he has been great to deal with. I have been to Norman a couple of times and know the area very well. I think Norman is a great town and I like the Campus Corner area. I know that program pretty well and I think OU is a great program."

Murray has already qualified.
