After Saturday's 7-3 loss to 9th-ranked Mississippi, the Oklahoma baseball team is one loss away from the end of the 2005 season.
The Sooners (34-25) will play Maine in an elimination game Sunday at 1 p.m. Sunday in Oxford. Maine (35-18) eliminatd Southern Mississippi with a 12-2 win Saturday afternoon.
The OU-Maine winner will take on Ole Miss at 5 p.m. on Sunday and need to beat the Rebels twice to advance to next weekend's Super Regional.
Mississippi jumped out to 2-0 lead on OU after four innings, but the Sooners got a solo home run by Chuckie Caufield and a two-run single by Russell Raley to take a 3-2 in the fifth inning.
The Rebels responded in the sixth with two runs to take the lead, and then added three runs in the top ninth off OU reliever Will Savage to put the Sooners away.
Steven Guerra started for Oklahoma and took the loss after giving up six hits and four runs in five innings.
