OUInsider.com has learned that DeAngelo Alexander, a six-foot-five shooting guard from Midwest City High School, has fully qualified to play at OU next year and will not be counted as OU's partial qualifier.
This is big news because Alexander is eligible to play as a freshman at OU next year and the Sooners now can use that partial qualifier scholarship on other non-qualified prospects such a Douglass star Richard Jones or OKC Northeast big man Julius Lamptey.
This could help in the Lamptey situation, because OU could not offer the partial to him before.
Right now OU is not at the top of Lamptey's list, but this could change with this news. Lamptey is a longshot to qualify and his best bet would be to stay in Oklahoma and use Oklahoma's partial if he can't qualify, or go and do the same thing at OSU. I bring up OSU, because Lamptey has always liked OSU.
