RECRUITING: OU still in the hunt for five-star OL?

Houston, Texas five-star offensive linemen Ian Symonette talks about his summer progress, visits and interest in the Sooners.

Ian Symonette, OL, 6-9, 330, HOUSTON (ST. PIUS X HS), TEXAS:

JH: How is your summer going?

IS: "It is going good. I am working hard to keep my weight down. I am working hard in the weight room, trying to stay focused and just trying to give 100 percent. I am still 6-9 and weigh about 330."

pJH: Are you having fun this summer or are you just working out all the time?

IS: "My day is pretty much full with workouts and seven-on-seven drills. We are in a league and doing pretty well against other schools."

JH: Have you gone to any camps this summer?

IS: "I went to the LSU camp earlier this summer, and I thought I did well there. They liked me enough that their coach said he would like to coach me. I enjoyed the camp and the school on the unofficial visit. I like their academic system. I want to major in culinary arts and business and they have good programs in those areas."

JH: Have you decided on a top five yet?

IS: "No, not yet. I am still considering all the schools. I just feel that it is still very early in the recruiting process for me. I am not ready to narrow anything done."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

IS: "Oklahoma is a great school and a great football program. I really like the academic system that they have in place and their football program is one of the best in the country. I really like how their school is set up. I will definitely take an official visit to Oklahoma."

JH: When do you feel you will have a top five?

IS: "I think I will have my five schools narrowed down at mid-season."
