RECRUITING: Bedlam battle for Juco DT?

Junior college defensive tackle Jeremy Gibbs says two schools stand out, but one currently leads.

Jeremy Gibbs, DT, 6-4, 285, 4.8 Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Junior College:

JH: You never made your visit to OU, so what happened?

JG: "My family was ready to make the trip, but something came up with Coach (Bob) Stoops and he couldn't be there. I had already been up there once, but I want my family to see OU and to meet the coaches, so we will reschedule the visit very soon."

JH: Did you then go to OSU instead?

JG: "I did go ahead and take an unofficial to OSU. My family was ready to take a visit that weekend, so we just went ahead and went to OSU. Of course, my family lives very close to the university and it is easy for us go get there. My family needed to see OSU because we are close to making a decision and I want to make that decision before I return to school. I think I can make that decision, but my family needs to see OSU and OU."

JH: Is your decision down to just OU and OSU?

JG: "I would say that those two schools are close right now, and maybe in front of Tennessee, Kansas State and Iowa State."

JH: What are your thoughts on OU at this time?

JG: "The tradition at OU is great. I want to be at a school like OU because they know how to win and they take care of their players. From what I can tell, OU does everything that they can do to put their players in the best position to win. OU has won so much that they have a great understanding of what it takes to win and help their players be excellent players and students. OU just knows what they are doing and they have all they need to be winners every year."

JH: What are your thoughts on OSU?

JG: "OSU is a school that is coming up. They are gathering a lot of momentum in their program. They are a program that is improving. They have a good coaching staff that is working with their players very well. They don't have the tradition of Oklahoma, but they are an up and coming program that is developing good players."

JH: Are you leaning towards either OU or OSU?

JG: "Right now I am leaning towards OU. You can say OU is my leader. I like both schools, but right now I just feel better about OU."

JH: When are you going to announce?

JG:"I want to do it when I report back to school, but if I don't feel good about it then I will take some more time. I think I can make a decision by the time I have to report back to school."
