RECRUITING: Sooners looking at Louisiana PG

Louisiana point guard has OU among top three favorites

DARRYL MITCHELL, COMBO GUARD, 5Ì11, SR, ST. MARTINVILLE, LOUISIANA:

JH: How is your season going?

"We finished our season this Saturday and I averaged 25 points per game. We finished our regular season 37 and 4 and we won the state championship."

JH: Will you be a point guard in college?

"I think I will play point guard in college. My height probably puts me at the point and that is fine with me. I am not selfish, I like to give my teammates the ball. I like to do whatever I can to help the team. I averaged 5.7 assist per game this past year."

JH: What schools do you like at this point?

"Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Houston, UL-Lafayette, LSU, Virginia and North Carolina State. I really like Oklahoma and they are going to set up a visit with me on the next week."

JH: What do you like about Oklahoma?

"I get along with the all the coaches and they have had success with Louisiana players. Hollis Price and Quannas White are both from Louisiana and both are starting. I saw them play a couple of times in Lake Charles, Louisiana and Coach (Ray) Lopes has talked about them quite a bit. If I went to Oklahoma I would back them up next year and then be in the mix for a starting spot my sophomore season."

JH: OU will have four guards who are seniors next year and then all will graduate. What are you thoughts on so many guards leaving at once at OU?

"The other schools have seniors that are leaving and I might be able to play early. However, at most of them I would be backing up seniors and then playing a lot my sophomore year."

JH: Do you have favorites at this point?

"Probably Texas A&M and Virginia. Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Virginia are probably my top three schools."
