Sooner women advance to Elite Eight

Hill, Ross lead Sooners past Tech, 72-62

It wasn't pretty, but the Sooners got the job done.

Caton Hill scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Oklahoma rallied from a three-point halftime deficit to knock off Texas Tech, 72-62, and advance to the West Regional Final Monday in Boise.

Facing a 30-27 halftime deficit, Oklahoma used a quick 6-2 run to retake the lead. Tech tied the game at 38 apiece, but the Sooners took charge using a 14-3 run to extend their lead to 50-41. Rosalind Ross was huge for the Sooners in the second half, where she scored all of her 15 points.

"This is a landmark win for us to be this far in the tournament," said Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale.

"Texas Tech gave us a huge fight and we knew that they'd come out swinging. Maybe we came out too hard in the first half but once we relaxed a bit things started happening for us."

After shooting only 33 percent in the first half, the Sooners responded in the second half shooting 53 percent from the field.

Cisti Greenwalt led Texas Tech with 18 points. LaNeishea Caufield added 18 points for the Sooners.

Oklahoma will face Colorado on Monday for the right to go to the Final Four. The winner will be the first Big 12 team to advance to the final four since the inception of the conference. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CST. and will be televised on ESPN.
