RECRUITING: Oklahoma OL lists five favorites

Muskogee, Okla. DL Derek Burton talks about his top five and interest in Oklahoma.

Derek Burton, DE, 6-2, 245, 5.0, MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA:

JH: What have you been doing this summer?

DB: "I have been working hard around here with my teammates. I went to a half-day camp at OSU last month, and I must have done pretty well because right after that camp I received about 10 letters from them all telling how well I played."

JH: What do you think about all the publicity that has come your way?

DB: "I don't know what to think because before this year nobody said anything about me. Now people are coming up to me all the time saying they read a story about me on the internet, or they heard somebody mention my name on the radio and all that stuff is interesting. I am just trying to keep a level head and do my job on the field."

JH: What is the latest in recruiting?

DB: "I guess you can say I have a top five, but I have about 10 schools who I still think about. I guess you can say that OU, OSU, Tulsa, Stanford and Tennessee are my top five."

JH: Do you want to stay in-state?

DB: "Right now it doesn't matter. I guess you can say the in-state schools have the upper hand because they are closer, but really it doesn't matter."

JH: What do you like about Oklahoma?

DB: "The biggest thing with them is that they have a winning tradition. Every year they win games and play in bowl games, and that is the most impressive thing that stands out about them."

JH: What do you like about Oklahoma State?

DB: "My dad played at Oklahoma State so I know a lot about them. I know all the coaches, and I just know a little more about the school because of my dad. Plus, all the coaches at OSU are trying to get to know me and not just my recruiting coach. It just seems like all the coaches are trying to get to know me, and that is pretty cool."

JH: Are you close to making a decision?

DB: "No, not really. I am not even close to making decision."
