RECRUITING: Missouri WR commits, but is it solid?

Kirkwood, Mo. wide receiver Jermey Maclin talks about his recent visit to Texas Tech and Monday's commitment to the Sooners. Could their be more visits in his future plans?

Jeremy Maclin, WR, 6-0, 175, 4.5, KIRKWOOD, MISSOURI:

JH: When we talked Monday afternoon you said you were down to OU and Texas Tech. However, I've learned since our first conversation that you committed to Oklahoma. What transpired in the last 40 minutes?

JM: "It is a solid a verbal, but I am still considering Texas Tech. They are the only other team still in the running."

JH: So are you committed to OU or are you still being recruited?

JM: "I have comitted to OU, but my mind is still open. OU is the place that I want to be. But when I take my visit to Texas Tech, and if they show me something super, then I might go there."

JH: Are you going to visit both places?

JM: "I am going to take visits to both places."

JH: When are you going to take your visits to OU and Texas Tech?

JM: "I am going to OU their first game when they play TCU and then going to Texas Tech when they play Kansas, which I think is in the fourth week of the season."

JH: Talk about your recent unofficial visit to Tech.

JM: "The visit went well. Texas Tech has a lot of nice facilities. I didn't get a chance to meet Coach (Mike) Leach because he wasn't in town. I talked to the wide receiver and defensive back coach and the offensive coordinator. The area was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. There is stuff to do out there."

JH: What is it you like about Oklahoma?

JM: "I like everything about Oklahoma. Oklahoma has always been a great school to me. I think it is a great school to play wide receiver, and I think Coach (Darrell) Wyatt is one of the best wide receiver coaches in the country."

Editor's note: In reality, this is really a soft verbal at this time because he is still planning on taking a visit to Texas Tech and even says they could change his mind. So, we will call it a soft verbal, but we realize that it is not solid at time.
