RECRUITING: Virginia receiver sets visit

Virginia Beach, Va. receiver Damon McDaniel talks about his favorites and interest in Oklahoma.

Damon McDaniel, WR, 5-11, 192, 4.5, VIRGINIA BEACH (LANDSTOWN HS), VIRGINIA:

JH: How is your summer going?

DM: "I am trying to have a better season than I had last season so I have worked very hard this summer. All we did was play seven-on-seven this summer. In fact, we just quit two weeks ago. Two-a-days started for us on Monday and we are going very hard. Our coaching staff tries to tell us to slow up, but we aren't doing that as we just keep pushing. I am working as hard as I can because I want to have a great season."

JH: Did you go to any seven-on-seven tournaments?

DM: "We went to the one at the University of Virginia and lost in the semi-finals. We got a lot of people banged up and lost our starting strong safety early in that tournament, and that really hurt us."

JH: Did you take any unofficial visits this summer?

DM: "I went to Virginia Tech and Florida for unofficial visits. At Virginia Tech, the campus was bigger than I thought. I thought it was going to be a lot smaller. It is out in the country and all their fans are crazy about football because that is what they really have to be crazy about. At Florida, I was amazed about how big the stadium was. At the top of the stadium you can see the rest of the city. They have a great atmosphere for football and I developed a great relationship with all their coaches."

JH: What is the latest in recruiting for you?

DM: "I have set up visits to Oklahoma (9-2), Florida (9-16) and then LSU (9-23). Then I am considering Miami, Ohio State and Virginia Tech for my final two visits."

JH: Do you have a favorite at this time?

DM: "No, not really."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

DM: "Oklahoma is up there on my list. I can't say what number because I don't have an order right now,. But they are up there very high. I have always liked Coach Bob Stoops, so I have always been a fan of the program. They have a great program and their overall winning percentage is very high. I am looking at Oklahoma very hard."
