RECRUITING: Wyatt, Sooners grab another receiver

Sooners head East to lock up latest wide receiver commitment.

Brandon Caleb, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound receiver from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia, gave Oklahoma a verbal commitment Thursday after a three-day visit to Norman with his mom on the weekend of August 6.

Caleb, who is one of the top receivers on the Sooners' recruiting board, picked OU over Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. He was also recruited by Florida and USC, although neither school had offered as of August 5.

Last season, Caleb had 15 receptions for 405 yards and six touchdowns. Fork Union Military Academy didn't have much of a passing attack, hence the low number of receptions.

However, that never prevented Darrell Wyatt from extending a Sooner offer once he saw film, who obviously noted that Caleb scored an amazing one in every three times he touched the football. Brandon was the one national (outside the Big XII area) receiver recruit the Sooners targeted this spring, and has been near the top of their WR board since.

He also posted 55 tackles, 15 for loss, three forced fumbles, four interceptions and two touchdowns on defense, and earned all-league, all-central Virginia and all-state honors as a linebacker. Caleb has a 3.4 GPA and is qualified.
