Spring Football: 4/2 Practice Report

Jones returns; Wilson shuffles OL; Juco LB ahead of schedule and much more...

The Oklahoma Sooners worked under some tough conditions today with temperatures in the 40's and the wind blowing at gusts of 30 miles per hour.

The Sooners worked in sweats, shoulder pads and head gear. OU worked mainly on details in their offense and defense.

Once again Jason White worked with the first unit offense and is actually going through 85 percent of the drills.

KeJuan Jones was allowed back into practice today and showed outstanding explosiveness off the snap.

Will Peoples continues to shine at wide receiver, but Mark Clayton had his best practice of the spring.

Kevin Wilson continues to look for the right combination in the offensive line as Wes Sims (LT), Brad Davis (LG), Vince Carter (OC), Mike Skinner (RG) and Jammal Brown (LT) worked along the first unit. Davis is a journeyman offensive lineman that knows the assignments and that has given him the edge right now.

Pasha Jackson and Lance Mitchell are starting at SLB and MLB respectively. It looks like Russell Dennison is going to swing between SLB and WLB. Clint Ingram looks very good as a backup MLB, however Mitchell is further ahead of Torrance Marshall at this stage in camp.

"Remember that Torrance didn't go through spring football with us, before he stepped into our starting lineup," said co-defensive coordinator Mike Stoops.

ÒTorrance didn't join us into the middle of that summer and that helped him at the beginning of that next season. Lance is going through all spring with us and he is a dedicated learner. He is always trying to study tape and ask questions. Lance is an excellent athlete to and he is further ahead of Torrance at this point."

Jowahn Poteat returned to practice for the first time and looked good at corner.
