HOOPS RECRUITING: Texas guard set for visit

DeSoto, Texas guard Jermaine Beal talks about his game and interest in Oklahoma.

Jermaine Beal, G, 6-3, DeSoto, Texas:

JH: How did your summer go?

JB: "We were able to win a couple of tournaments early in the summer. We also played well in the end. When we played in our final tournament in LA we finished in the final four."

JH: What did you average this summer?

JB: "I averaged around 12 points and eight assist per game."

JH: What did you average last season?

JB: "I averaged 25 and 5."

JH: How would you describe your game?

JB: "I think I can do a little bit of everything. I think I can take people off the dribble, but I like my jump shot as well. I average 42 percent form 3-point range. I play both the one and the two in high school."

JH: You are visiting Oklahoma this weekend, so what is it that you like about the Sooners going into the visit?

JB: "Oklahoma is close to home and I like the tempo that they play. They have a great program and their assistant coaches are cool. Coach Sampson is real cool and a great coach. I want to take my visit there and check out their environment. I want to see what it is like on their campus and see if I think I could live there for the next four to five years."

JH: What other teams are you looking at?

JB: "I am also looking at Vanderbilt (9-16), SMU, Oklahoma and Illinois."
