Sophomore running back Adrian Peterson returned to practice today, and once again Bob Stoops said only that he will play on Saturday against UCLA.
Stoops said nothing about Peterson's starting status, but the thinking is either he will start or that Kejuan Jones will start with AD coming in the second series or as soon as Jones needs a breather. AD is expected to play as much or more than he did against Tulsa.
As we reported last Sunday, secondary coach Bobby Jack Wright said after practice tonight that freshman Reggie Smith will get his first start as a Sooner at strong safety, and that Lewis Baker would be moved to what he called the dime back, which is the fifth defensive back on the field.
Sophomore Darien Williams has retained his free safety job, despite a spirited competition with freshman Nic Harris and sophomore Jason Carter. Wright said that Harris is nipping right on the heels of Williams and that he could possibily play in the game at free safety, Wright also said Harris will serve as the Sooners' sixth defensive back, as they are expected to play multiple DBs a great deal of time in the game on Saturday.
