Baseball Recruiting Update

New OU baseball coach Sunny Golloway off to a good start.

Sunny Golloway and his staff are off to a great start in recruiting for the 2006 class.

The Sooners have earned a verbal from OF Devin Sheppard of Concord, Calif., who is regarded as one of the elite position players in the country. He will be a first to fifth round draft and the Sooners may not be able to hold him. Sheppard is one of the top 10 preps in California.

The Sooners also have a verbal from shortstop Bryant Hernandez from Concord, Calif., who is considered one of the top prep shortstops in California. He is only 5-9 so he will probably not get drafted high, but he has a chance to be a great collegiate player.

Also committed is powerhitting C/1B Aaron Baker of Denton, Texas, who is a pure power hitter from what I understand.

Finally, OU has a verbal from SS/3B Tyler Hinsen of Tuttle, Okla. He is currently the starting QB at Tuttle. If he is anyhwere close to the last QB OU got out of Tuttle then the OU baseball team is going to be in good shape.

My information on all these guys is very shaky at this time and I may be wrong on a few details, but I want to give all of you a heads up on who has committed thus far and at least you have an idea.
