Recruiting: Jenks OL in no hurry

Jenks, Okla. lineman Chase Beeler update.

Chase Beeler, OL, 6-3, 275, 5.4, JENKS, OKLAHOMA:

JH: Did Jenks get back on the winning track last weekend?

CB: "Yeah, we beat Broken Arrow 35-7."

JH: What happened in your 44-0 loss to Springdale, Arkansas?

CB: "They just came out and hit us in the mouth. To be honest, I don't think we were ready to play. We were just coming off that big victory over Tulsa Union and we had a tough week of practice that week. Then the week before the Springdale game, I just don't think we had the preparation needed to play well. We didn't get on the bus ready to play that game and it showed on the field."

JH: How have you been playing?

CB: "I have been playing pretty well. Obviously, the Springdale game left something to be desired. I played well in the Union game, and I was sick the entire Broken Arrrow game. I got some kind of virus and didn't get to practice all week. I dropped about 20 pounds during the week and I was very weak for the game. I only played on the offensive side the ball and, considering the circumstances, I played pretty well. I was dehydrated most of the game and it seemed I couldn't drink enough water. But I am much better now. I have gained most of the weight back and I have been able to go through practice this week."

JH: Oklahoma offered you recently, so what does that do for your recruiting picture?

CB: "It doesn't really change the dynamics of recruiting for me. I am still not going to get into recruiting until after the season. Oklahoma is a school that I am going to strongly consider, but I will not be making any early commitments or anything because I am not even going to start the recruiting process until after the season."

JH: So you are not going to take any visits until after you season is over?

CB: "Well, I might visit OU and OSU during the season because of the proximity of them. They are so close that I can easily drive up early Saturday morning or late Friday night after the game. I am considering both OU and OSU."

JH: What schools are you still considering?

CB: "The list realistically is still wide open to the schools I am talking to. Schools like OU, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Kansas, Northwestern, Colorado, Iowa State and Utah are schools that have what I am looking for academically and athletically."

JH: What are your thoughts on the Sooners?

CB: "They are certainly a powerhouse school in this state. I know they are down right now, but you know that they will not stay that why. They are a great program, but in saying that I want to point out again that even though they have offered me I am going to go through the recruiting process. I am not close to committing to anybody at this point."
