Recruiting: Top Texas LB likes four

Haltom City, Texas LB talks about his final four, upcoming visits and interest in Oklahoma.

Anthony Lewis, LB, 6-1, 215, 4.7, HALTOM CITY, TEXAS:

JH: How is your season going?

AL: "We are 3 and 1 on the year."

JH: How well are you playing?

AL: "I am playing pretty well. I have two sacks, two forced fumbles and 55 tackles from the middle linebacker spot in the 4-3. When we play a 4-2 defense, I play on the side that the running back plays on. Most of the teams in our district are shotgun teams so the running back lines up on one side or the other."

JH: You have received a lot of publicity concerning your ability. Have you noticed that more teams are paying attention to you?

AL: "Yes, I notice that I am getting cut a lot more and I get double-teamed a lot more than I used to. I can't let that stop me. I just have to play through it."

JH: What do you think about the college coaches calling you again?

AL: "It gets busy, but I like it. It is a once in a life time opportunity and I am trying to enjoy it."

JH: Have you set up any visits yet?

AL: "I have set up a visit to Texas A&M this Saturday. Then on October 15 I am going to Notre Dame when they play USC. Those are the only two I have set. I am working on visits with OU and Oklahoma State."

JH: Are those your top four schools or do you have more that you are considering?

AL: "Yes, those are my top four teams."

JH: Do you have a favorite?

AL: "No, I don't."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

AL: "I really don't know what to say. They have a good program and they are putting together a good recruiting class. I think they are going to bring in some good athletes this year. I like Oklahoma's style of play at linebacker. OU plays an aggressive defense, which I like. I noticed that OU doesn't have a lot of linebackers on their roster. I think they only have six scholarship linebackers on campus and one of those will graduate this year. I like Coach (Brent) Venables and how he coaches the linebackers. He has had great success with the linebackers at OU."

JH: What factors will you look at in picking between your four schools?

AL: "My choice is going to come down to my visits and what I experience on each campus."
