Recruiting: Murray set for visit to Norman

Five-star RB prospect DeMarco Murray talks about his visit to Florida and upcoming trip to Norman.

DeMarco Murray, RB, 6-1, 185, 4.5, LAS VEGAS (BISHOP GORMAN HS), NAVEDA:

JH: How is your season going?

DM: "Last week I had a pretty good game. I had 15 carries, 272 and six touchdowns. My offensive line was opening up holes pretty good and I was trying to score every time. I was just running the ball hard and they were doing a great job."

JH: How are you doing as a team?

DM: "Right now we are ranked No. 3, but I feel we have a good shot to win the state title."

JH: How did your visit go to Florida?

DM: "It was a great visit, I had a good time. I got to know the coaches a lot better and many of the players. I got to experience what it was like to be a part of the Florida Gators and I had a great time down there."

JH: How is recruiting going?

DM: "It has been good so far. I have narrowed down to a top six schools right now, but I don't know if that is set or not. I have narrowed it down to OU, USC, Florida, Miami, Texas A&M and Penn State."

JH: Do you have a leader at this point?

DM: "No, I don't at this point. I have only visited Florida and I had a great time down there, but I can't say they are a leader."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

DM: "I just think as a team they are having some problems right now. I want to go out there and check them out and see how the players are acting. I just want to get a feel for how things are going at Oklahoma."

JH: Are you more concerned with how a program is doing this season or do you take in how a program has done for the past three or four years? You have been around the OU program for a long time, so you know OU pretty well don't you?

DM: "What they did in the past is a big thing, but how things are going right now is important to mel. I can understand why they are losing or have struggled this year. They have a young team and are starting a number of freshmen, so it is understandable why they are struggling right now. I mean, OU is going to do nothing but get better this season and get better next year."

JH: I sense that on this visit that getting to know the team is the most important thing to you?

DM: "I just want to hang out with the players and see what they are like. I know most of the coaches and I know what they are about, so I just want to meet the players and see what they are all about."
