Recruiting: Maryland DT may give OU a look

Brandywine, Md. defensive tackle Phillip Taylor update.

Phillip Taylor, DT, 6-4, 340, 5.5, BRANDYWINE (GWYNN PARK HS), MARYLAND:

JH: How is your season going?

PT: "We are doing well. We are 6-0 right now. We still have to work on some things, but right now things are going well."

JH: How are you playing?

PT: "I think I am playing well. I know the things that I do need to work on, but outside of those things I think I am doing well. I have about 30 tackles and three or four sacks."

JH: Are you going both ways?

PT: "Yes, I am playing on both sides of the ball. I am playing offensive tackle and defensive end and tackle."

JH: What are most schools recruiting you to play?

PT: "I am mostly being recruited as a defensive tackle."

JH: How is recruiting going?

PT: "I have it down to five or six schools, but I have three that I am mostly looking at. The five or six are Maryland, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Florida and Oklahoma. My top three would be Maryland, Penn State and Virginia Tech."

JH: You have taken a visit haven't you?

PT: "I have been on one visit to Penn State. I probably won't take another visit until after our season is over. I liked the visit to Penn State a lot. The atmosphere was great and the attitude of the coaches was great as well."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

PT: "I like Oklahoma a lot. They are the one school that has offered me as an offensive lineman. I think that is OK because they have one of the best offensive lines in the country. The way you can tell that is the production that Adrian Peterson gets and their running backs get behind them. I am thinking about visiting Oklahoma. I want to give them a look to see what they are like. Right now they are not in my top five, but they will have their chance to catch my eye. I would not rule out the possibility that I would sign with Oklahoma."
