Recruiting: N.C. DT sets visit

Wendell, N.C. defensive tackle Alerick Mullins talks about his favorites and visit plans to Norman.

Alerick Mullins, DT, 6'2, 280, 4.9, WENDELL (EAST WAKE HS), NORTH CAROINA:

JH: How is your season going?

AM: "We are 7-1 right now. We have a big one coming up this Friday. We play for the conference championship against Garner. I am looking forward to playing a great game."

JH: How are you playing?

AM: "Right now I have 52 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 6 ½ sacks and four forced fumbles. I am playing real well because I am playing both defensive tackle and defensive end. Then this Friday I am going to play linebacker and fullback on offense."

JH: Do you want to move to linebacker?

AM: "That is what they have to do, because when I am on the down line I am getting triple-teamed and getting cut a lot. I have played linebacker part of my freshman and sophomore year until my junior year. So, I feel real comfortable at linebacker."

JH: How many schools have offered you?

AM: "I have been offered by 12 schools."

JH: Do you have a top five or so?

AM: "No, I haven't narrowed it down at all."

JH: Who are some of the schools that you are looking at?

AM: "I am still looking at Auburn, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Florida and Michigan State and many others really."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

AM: "They are real young right now and that is why they are having somewhat of a bad year. I am very interested in Oklahoma because they have been good the past year years playing in the National Championship game. That shows what kind of program they have, not this year. They will bounce back from this year."

JH: Have you set any visits up at this time?

AM: "I am visiting Oklahoma Thanksgiving weekend. I am working to set up one with Auburn."

JH: Is distance a factor at all?

AM: "No, sir. Distance is not a factor."

JH: What are some of the key things that you are looking for in a college?

AM: "I want to play for a good solid coaching staff within a program that has been good for a while. I want to check out the graduation rate, because I want to go to a school that has a good academic program."
