Recruiting: Sooners offer Texas OL

Longview, Texas offensive lineman Trent Williams update.

Trent Williams, OL, 6'5, 295, 5.0, LONGVIEW, TEXAS:

Trent Williams
is another talented offensive lineman that has emerged out of the state of Texas and is now drawing national attention.

Williams broke into the starting lineup at left tackle a year ago and more than held his own and is a much better player this season.

"I think I am a much stronger run blocker than last year and I have a little better footwork," said Williams. "I just feel a lot more confident out there when I am playing."

Williams can bench 300 pounds, squats 500 and he has a 27-inch vertical jump. He attended the Texas A&M camp the summer before his junior year, and has been offered by 15 schools.

"Right now my top four would be LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M," said Williams. "All four of those schools have offered me. Oklahoma has a winning program and a good history of winning. I think at Oklahoma I would have a good chance to play early."

"Oklahoma just offered me last night and it kind of caught me by surprise, but I am glad that they did offer me. I don't have a favorite right now, I just want to take my visits. But I think I will be able to make a decision based off of my visits."

One thing the Sooners might have going for them is the fact that freshman wide receiver Malcolm Kelly is from Longview.

"Malcolm told me that that he really likes it at Oklahoma," said Williams. "He said they work very hard, but Oklahoma is a fun place to play football."

He goes to LSU this weekend and he is going to Oklahoma State on December 2nd, and is still working on setting up visits to OU and Texas A&M.

Williams has qualified.
