For the eighth time during his 12 seasons in Norman, Larry Cochell's Oklahoma baseball team is headed for the NCAA tournament.
The second-seeded Sooners' (35-25) road to Omaha begins this Friday when they face third-seeded Arkansas (31-26) in the first round of a double elimination NCAA sub-regional Friday in Wichita, Kan.
Wichita State (46-15) is the top seed in the region and will face Oral Roberts (46-17) in the other first round matchup.
Oklahoma is one of five Big 12 teams to make the field. Texas, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Baylor also made the tournament from the Big 12.
The Southeaster conference led the way with seven teams in the 64-team field.
