Jeremy Mayfield, a 6-foot-10 power forward/center from Gulf Shores Academy in Houston, Texas, has just committed to Oklahoma.
Mayfield, who chose the Sooners over Texas, Miami, South Florida and Texas A&M, will sign an official letter of intent on Wednesday.
"Mayfield's commitment is a significant one for the Sooners as he ranks No. 4 on the Scout.com list of post graduate players in the nation," said Scout.com recruiting analyst Dave Telep. "In fact, the Sooners now own commitments from the No. 4 post grad prospect and No. 6 on that list, wing Tony Crocker.
"This is a young man who a lot of tools to work with," said Telep, on Mayfield. "He's big, will be college-ready strength wise, and has athlecism and versatility to his power forward package. He would have been a steal at Nevada and he'll be ready to come into Norman and make it happen with the Sooners."
On Wednesday, OU will sign one of the top men's basketball recruiting classes in the country in point guard Scott Reynolds (6-1) of Herndon, Va., Damion James (6-8 ) of Nacogodches, Texas, Keith Clark (6-9) of Putnam City, Okla., Tony Crocker (6-5) of San Antonio, Texas, and Mayfield, which will be ranked one of the top 10 classes in the country.
