Recruiting: Madu planning trip to West Coast

Norman RB Mossis Madu talks about his season, interest in OU and the distance factor.

Mossis Madu, RB, 6-0, 190, 4.48, NORMAN, OKLAHOMA:

JH: Norman enters into the state playoffs this weekend as one of the favorites in class 6A. How do you like your chances?

MM: "I think we have a really good chance. We have a really good team and we are playing really well right now. We have a really good defense and we believe that we have what it takes to win a state championship. Hopefully we can keep it going because I don't think we have won a state title since 1993."

JH: You had another great game last weekend, and you have managed to get into a pretty good groove at the right time haven't you?

MM: "I rushed for 249 yards and three touchdowns. Yeah, I am in a good groove. The o-line has really been great for me. They are doing a great job and I am just trying to run as hard as I can behind them."

JH: You alternated at running back last year before becoming the full-time starter this year. You must have made up your mind early to make it a great year?

MM: "I just made up my mind to come out for my senior year and make it really big. I knew that if I could have a great senior year that everybody would say that I am really good. I also knew that I had a great senior year that my team would have a better chance to win and we have put together a great season."

JH: Is there anything new in recruiting with you?

MM: "I just recently got offered by Tulsa yesterday. I am also hearing from TCU, Central Florida and that is about it."

JH: What are your thoughts on recruiting at this time?

MM: "I don't know what to think because at the beginning of the season I had no idea that anything like this was going to happen. I didn't think big-time programs were going to offer me, and I certainly didn't think I would be getting this kind of attention. I am very blessed. And what everybody told me that if I worked hard good things would come my way has been true."

JH: What are your thoughts on recruiting at this time?

MM: "My thoughts are really good with them. Oklahoma is not having their typical year, but they will be back next year to their championship standards. One thing I really like about OU is that they will play young players. If you show up ready to play as a freshman and you prove you are the best player, they will play. I noticed that Dominique Franks committed to them last night and I respect him. I notice a lot of the top players in-state are committing to OU. My thoughts are very good on Oklahoma."

JH: What are your parents' thoughts about the fact that you are considering going to UCLA, who is a long way from home?

MM: "Any parent wants to be close to their kid. My mom is always asking what would happen if I was so far away and who is going to do my laundry and everything. But the decision is mine and they will support me with whatever decision I make."

JH: Will you take any visits this weekend?

MM: "I may be taking my official visit UCLA this weekend, at least that is a possibility. I am trying to work out the details."
