RECRUITING: Garland LB names top three

Garland, Texas LB Ta Ta Thompson reveals his favorites and a possible leader

Thompson is an incredible talent that has the luxury of being recruited as both an outside linebacker and defensive end. His height leads college coaches to believe that he is not through growing and that after a year in a collegiate weight lifting program he will weigh 260 pounds.

As a sophomore, Thompson started midway through the year at outside linebacker. Last season, Thompson played the first half of the year at outside linebacker, before moving inside to finish out the season. Thompson wound up splitting time at linebacker and fullback, but make no mistake about it Thompson is a defensive player in college.

"I want to play defense in college, that is for sure," said Thompson. "I like defense a lot better. I think I read and react to the ball very well."

Thompson can bench 240 pounds, squats 360 and has a 30-inch vertical jump. Thompson also plays hoops and is a starting forward, averaging 15 ppg and 9 rbpg.

"I really like Texas A&M, Texas and Arizo as my top three schools," said Thompson. "I am also talking to Florida, Georgia Tech and Oklahoma. However, I am a long way from making a decision, because my decision will come down to what I think of my visits. I am probably leaning towards Texas A&M."
