Recruiting: Tulsa star names three favorites

Tulsa Union four-star defensive end Chase Nelson talks about his three favorites and interest in Oklahoma.

Chase Nelson, DE, 6-3, 240, TULSA UNION:

JH: Congratulations for making it to the Class 6A State Championship game against Mustang. How do you think Union is playing and how about how you are playing?

CN: "I think we are playing pretty good. I think I am doing pretty well. I got the defensive play of the game in the semi-finals against Broken Arrow."

JH: Mustang has a great offense led by Mini Vick (Matt Edmonds). What do you think about the match-up?

CN: "I think we have a pretty good chance of winning. If we just keep playing like we have been playing and play every single play of the game, then we should come out on top. Their quarterback is a good player, but we have a pretty good secondary and our defensive line is playing at a high level. We should do pretty well against them."

JH: Did you make it up to the OU/OSU game this past Saturday?

CN: "No, I wasn't able to. My family was out of town, so I was pretty much just stuck in town."

JH: You have taken one visit haven't you?

CN: "Yes, and that was to Texas Tech. I haven't set up the exact date with Oklahoma, but it should be pretty soon."

JH: What are your thoughts on recruiting at this point?

CN: "Sometimes I don't know what to make of it. Everything comes at me so fast and each school wants me to visit and to do this and that. It is just hectic sometimes. I am sure things will settle down once our season is over. Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying it but it is hectic sometimes and tough to keep track of."

JH: Do you have a favorite or top two or three?

CN: "Yeah, my top three are OU, Tennessee and UCLA. All three of those schools have offered me and all three want me to visit. I really don't have a favorite among those three, but I plan to visit all three. I certainly plan to visit all three of those schools."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

CN: "I really like Oklahoma. It was real cool when I went down on a couple of unofficials. I really liked it there and the fact that it is in-state really helps. I know my mother wants me to stay close to home and that makes a difference. I really like Oklahoma."
